SHORES OF NIIHAU KAUAI OAHU MOLOKAI...NORTH FACING SHORES OF MAUI
AND WEST FACING SHORES OF THE BIG ISLAND...
...HIGH SURF ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR NORTH FACING SHORES
OF THE BIG ISLAND...

.Surf along exposed north- and west-facing shores of the smaller
islands will remain well above warning levels today before
gradually lowering to advisory levels by Thursday.

* WHAT...Surf of 25 to 35 feet along north facing shores, lowering
to 20 to 30 feet by this afternoon. Surf of 18 to 24 feet along
west facing shores of Niihau, Kauai, Oahu, and Molokai, lowering
to 15 to 20 feet by this afternoon. For west facing shores of
the Big Island, surf of 8 to 12 feet, lowering to 6 to 8 feet by
this afternoon.

* WHERE...North and west facing shores of Niihau, Kauai, Oahu,
Molokai, north facing shores of Maui, and west facing shores of
the Big Island.

* WHEN...Until 6 PM HST this evening. The potential for impacts to
coastal roadways and properties will occur by daybreak this
morning during the peak daily high tide cycle.

* IMPACTS...Very High...Expect ocean water surging and sweeping
across beaches, coastal benches, and lava flows creating the
potential for impacts to coastal properties and infrastructure,
including roadways. Powerful longshore and rip currents will be
present at most beaches. Large breaking waves and strong
currents may impact harbor entrances and channels causing
challenging boat handling.

Stay away from the shoreline along the affected coasts. Be
prepared for road closures. Postpone entering or leaving channels
affected by the high surf until the surf subsides.
